International Advocacy Work: MPI also is actively involved in robust international advocacy efforts, collaborating closely with a wide range of broad-based advocacy groups and organizations, including NUG's MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Our central mission revolves around strengthening coalitions, engaging constituents, and establishing effective communication channels with international actors and government agencies. By providing stakeholders and NUG with a supportive platform, we are dedicated to fostering a responsive and inclusive governance system that reflects the aspirations and needs of the people of Myanmar. Our collective efforts aim to promote democratic principles and advocate for positive change on a global scale.
Our current emphasis is on enhancing engagement with key international partners, including the United States, the United Nations, India and ASEAN, to promote mutual understanding among political and civil society actors. We firmly believe that undertaking practical and meaningful initiatives among political actors to form the necessary coalitions and overcome challenges posed by the military, paving the way for building a federal democratic Burma/Myanmar.
Initiatives For Victory (I4V): Under the leadership of Dr. Miemie Winn Byrd, Initiatives for Victory (I4V) focuses on strengthening the pro-democracy movement in Myanmar through four strategic efforts. We work to Encourage Defections by persuading soldiers, business leaders, and influential figures to shift allegiance, weakening the military junta's internal support. Mobilizing the Diaspora ensures continued engagement with Myanmar's global community, securing advocacy, resources, and international pressure for democratic change.
We also support Educational Programs for Capacity Building that empower youth, women’s organizations, and ethnic minority groups with leadership and advocacy skills, essential for shaping Myanmar’s democratic future. Additionally, Enhancing Communication Infrastructure through advanced technologies like Starlink ensures secure and efficient coordination for local communities and pro-democracy networks.
